October 25, 2021PHILADELPHIA – April 20, 2021 – Shareholder Shira R. Yoshor of the Labor & Employment Practice at global law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP, has moved her practice to the firm’s Philadelphia office, shifting from the Houston office.
“The depth of our Labor & Employment Practice is well known, and Shira’s arrival only deepens our rich offerings and is part of our continued growth here,” said Curtis B. Toll, managing shareholder of the Philadelphia office. “We have a strong and growing Labor & Employment presence based in this office – including Global Practice Co-Chair Jim Boudreau – that routinely delivers high quality legal work for clients, both locally and across the globe. Shira’s talents and insights will continue to build on that strength and help further round out this office, and we’re excited to have her in Philadelphia.”
Benchmark Litigation rated Greenberg Traurig “highly recommended” in its most recent survey of Pennsylvania labor & employment law practices – one of only four law firms to earn that distinction. And U.S. News-Best Lawyers placed the firm in Tier 1 for labor & employment litigation and employment law – management for the Philadelphia region.
“Shira has long played a role with our team in helping clients navigate complex issues, and that has only increased in light of the global pandemic,” Boudreau said. “The challenges have grown more intricate, and it’s great having her sharp mind in this market. We expect that she’ll make a notable, considerable imprint on the business community here.”
Well-versed in nearly all aspects of labor and employment law, Yoshor also has deep experience in commercial and real estate litigation. As such, she counts a broad range of clients for whom she provides strategic counseling and litigation services that advance their business and legal goals. Those range from managing workplace issues to drafting employment agreements, assembling handbooks and policies to leading investigations and litigation of whistleblower, discrimination, retaliation, and restrictive covenant claims.
Likewise, Yoshor devotes significant time to civic engagement and social causes, particularly those that promote women’s leadership. A sampling of her past roles ranges from president of Texas Executive Women to former board member of the Houston chapter of Dress for Success and the American Jewish Committee; her current board assignments include serving as a trustee for Yeshiva University. Plus, a cadre of young lawyers all claim her as a mentor, as she helps guide and support their career advancement.
Her move here was foreshadowed in a way, as she is among the newest inductees of The American Law Institute. Founded in 1923, ALI is noted as one of the leading independent organizations in the country, producing scholarly work that seeks to help modernize and improve the law. With members drawn from the ranks of eminent lawyers, judges and academics, the Philadelphia-based organization drafts, revises, and publishes Restatements of the Law, Model Codes, and Principles of Law, which are influential in the courts and legislatures, as well as in legal education.
Membership in this exclusive group is granted only after a rigorous nomination and review process by some of the leading minds in American law. Her selection came as a result of demonstrated legal excellence, professional achievements, and continuous contributions to the field of law – and grants an “opportunity to dig into philosophical considerations and work to refine the applied practice of the law, in real-time,” Yoshor said.
“In spite of the circumstances of the pandemic, this has been an invigorating time for my practice, helping clients to chart a way forward,” she added. “Doing this work in such a storied city at such an historic time is exceptionally meaningful. I look forward to what the future here holds, and I’m ready to cheer on the 76ers – but maybe not so loudly if they play the Rockets.”
